Dr. Federico Latimer earned his undergraduate degree from Villanova University, and he then completed the first of 2 Master's degrees at Penn State University. He earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in 1984, and a second Master's Degree in 1984. He, then, entered private practice in Puerto Rico until 1987. The University of Tennessee recruited him to their faculty and then offered him a residency program in Comparative Surgery that was completed in 1996. He has worked on the surgical faculties at the University of Tennessee, North Carolina State University, Oregon State University, Louisiana State University, and The Ohio State University. Dr Latimer has published numerous scientific articles including 2 evaluating the pharmacokinetics of antifungal agents in horses. In addition, he has authored or co-authored numerous book chapters. Dr Latimer continues to collaborate with orthopedic colleagues in order to provide the most up-to-date and modern surgical procedures for his patients. Dr Latimer recently performed an innovative surgical procedure on a California sea lion. The superstar patient is doing great and is comfortable on his front flipper!
